Coincidence

  • I know coincidence has a long arm, but it's not an octopus.

  • A genuine coincidence always means bad luck for me; it's my only superstition.

  • Coincidence means only a connection that's not seen. Roots meet underground.

  • When the mind is full of any one subject, that subject seems to recur with extraordinary frequency — it appears to pursue or to meet us at every turn: in every conversation that we hear in every book we open, in every newspaper we take up, the reigning idea recurs; and then we are surprised, and exclaim at these wonderful coincidences.

  • It is often interesting, in retrospect, to consider the trifling causes that lead to great events. A chance encounter, a thoughtless remark — and the tortuous chain reaction of coincidence is set in motion, leading with devious inevitability to some resounding climax.

  • Coincidence is a messenger sent by truth.

  • I don't believe coincidences are chance events. I think they're the times we happen to see the mysterious pattern where everything is connected.
